Port Operations

Inland Container Depot, abbreviated as ICD, is a dry port which is established to de-congest the existing gateway ports in the nearby vicinity. ICD Durgapur is EDI enabled and the port has been awarded an AEO status (Authorised Economic Operator) by Indian Customs. The port operates round the clock and has dedicated customs team for EXIM cargo appraisement. Several major shipping lines and Main Line Operators have direct import service and B/L point up to ICD Durgapur. Containers are transferred from gateway port to ICD under through B/L (Liner Haulage) with place of final delivery mentioned as ‘ICD Durgapur’ in the Bill of Lading. State of the art infrastructure and cutting edge technology is used for port operations such as loading and unloading of containers or cargos, stuffing and de-stuffing of containers, storage of bonded and non-bonded cargo, etc.

The customs team at ICD Durgapur is user friendly and cooperative. Being an AEO status holder, the ICD enjoys special benefits with regards to appraisal of cargo. ICD Durgapur also works as an empty container yard where the exporter can avail facility to pick up empty containers 24*7. Drop off service for empty container is also available at the ICD 365 days a year for the convenience of the exporter. Independent survey is conducted by 'J B Boda Insurance Surveyors & Loss Assessors Pvt. Ltd.' for empty and laden containers.

The ICD is equipped with one 80 MT electronic weighbridge and the port is in the planning phase to install another additional 100 MT electronic weighbridge. The entire premises is safely secured by continuous CCTV surveillance, manned security and dog squad. At present, it is the only operational dry port in Eastern India.
